How KPOA contributed to the community in the past year thanks to the support of our members:
- Continued our engagement with the Kensington Districts’ Boards of Directors to review and evaluate the need for district unification/consolidation in order to improve coordination, financial condition and professional staff retention. We finally succeeded along with other engaged Kensingtonians who understood this requirement for coordinated decision making and effective delivery of services. See the consolidation celebration invitation and annual meeting agenda in this mailing.
- Conducted our annual survey of residents’ issues of concern and priorities for addressing them. In recent years district consolidation moved up from middle ranking to number one. Our extensive work of analysis and communication in support of consolidation was our primary focus for a number of years. This year’s survey is on the back of this page.
- Hosted the annual 2024 KPOA membership meeting with speakers including our new fire chief, the police chief, district general managers and our county supervisor on current issues in Kensington. The KPOA Annual Meeting is this November 1 at the Community Center from 11:00am to 1:00pm. It will conclude with a genuinely delicious luncheon in celebration of the success of consolidation.
- The recent resurfacing of Kensington streets is a result of a historic agreement with the county to maintain them periodically after our intensive advocacy years ago.
- Worked with local agencies to analyze service needs, including police and fire, and communicate in various forums our observations and conclusions based on these interactions.
- Delivered an updated KPOA Kensington Community Directory (online and by U.S. mail) and have improved it again for 2025-2026.
- Assisted property owners with referrals to agencies and resources to address their issues related to power lines, road conditions, and tree obstruction, among other issues affecting their quality of life.
KPOA’s board brings together volunteer and professional resources. All KPOA Board of Directors are Kensington volunteers.
