2026 KPOA Annual Membership & Town Hall Meeting
We strive to keep Kensington Property Owners informed on issues that impact your home and the community, which is why we invite you to attend the Annual KPOA Membership and Townhall Meeting on October 17, 2026. Everyone in the community is invited! This year’s meeting is sponsored jointly by KPOA and the KIC. A full agenda can be found on the opposite side of this letter.
This is the first full year of the consolidated Kensington Community Services District (KCSD). As they get further reorganized we hope to have a permanent General Manager to introduce by the date of our meeting. We will have our Fire Chief, Police Chief and County Supervisor presenting and providing department updates including information on implementation of fire safe vegetation inspection requirements, license plate reader alternatives, fire mitigation funding and other activities. Although there were no contested seats for Kensington Community Service District Directors, we will have the incoming KCSD directors (new and returning) to speak and answer questions about their priorities and outlook for the upcoming year.
In the envelope we’ve mailed out, please find our membership form. We encourage you to stay engaged by renewing your membership or by joining KPOA. In addition, the KPOA board requests your vote for our Board of Directors and a by-law change; ballots are included on the membership form. Members of KPOA may exercise one vote per property. Information about the directors is on our website.
KPOA has been a leader in providing information and promoting civic engagement since 1972. Our organization led the effort to require the County to maintain our roads, identified fiscal risks for the District in approving an MOU with the Police Officers Association, led educational efforts over many years regarding district consolidation and we continue to work with our local leaders to improve policies in our Kensington Community.
Will you consider joining our board? To continue the organization’s role in the community it is critical that we find additional directors to serve on our board. As an organization we must have more directors that represent our community in order to continue to function. Over the last several years our directors have joined the district’s boards, some have moved on or out of Kensington! We need to replace these wonderful people now. There are great rewards for giving back to the community. We will hear brief presentations from these KCSD Directors and have a short Q&A.

Danielle Madugo, Rodney Paul - Contra Costa County Supervisor John Gioia – He will address the latest updates on
wildfire funding for Kensington, red flag parking restrictions, the new tree arbitration
board, roads, West Nile Virus and more! - Sylvia Hacaj, President KCSD – She will provide a year in review and what is
coming up for the KCSD in the future. - Eric Saylors, El Cerrito–Kensington Fire Chief – He will discuss inspections under
newly adopted State regulations for vegetation and flammable materials on
properties and Fire Department updates. - Mike Gancasz, Kensington Police Chief – He will share new information on license
plate reader cameras and other Police Department updates
